Hoengseong Hoedaji Sound Folk Festival held at Jeonggeum Folk Village in Ucheon-myeon, Hoengseong-gun is a folk culture festival that is aimed at preserving and developing Hoengseong's traditional folk culture and uniting the citizens of Hoengseong.
After Hoengseong Heodaji Sound won the Presidential Award at the National Folk Art Contest in 1984 and was designated as the Intangible Cultural Asset No. 4 of Gangwon Province in 1985, the Jeonggeum Folk Museum was built and Jeonggeum Village was designated as the Hoedaji Sound Preservation Village in 1986. Then, the Jeonggeum Folk Culture Preservation Society and Heongseong Hoedaji Sound Folk Culture Festival were organized to preserve and develop the unique culture, traditional sound and folk plays in this region.
Heongseong Hoedaji Sound Folk Culture Festival is participatory festival where you can try various exciting cultural programs as well as all the local delicacies such as Hoengseong deodeok and Anheung steamed bread.
